When Can I Start
Your socialisation window closes at 14 weeks old for most dogs, the sooner you start the better chance you will have in creating a well-rounded, confident pup.
Puppies should remain with their litter until 8 weeks of age.
You can and should join a class as soon as you get them settled in at home, provided they have had their first vaccinations.
Some vets will caution waiting longer, however statistics have shown that early stimulation and socialisation is vital, and the benefits far outweigh the small risk of early puppy illnesses being picked up in public places.
Puppies kept in isolation in their formative months miss out on this vital early socialisation.
When they are introduced to other dogs, novel items and new experiences later on, they may become anxious and overwhelmed and take longer to adapt to new situations.
What Will We Learn
Puppy classes follow a structured progression based on the age of your pup and how many classes you’ve attended.
At the outset you will learn basic focus and relationship building exercises while gaining an understanding of force-free training and how to use a clicker.
As you progress through the classes your puppy will learn all of the necessary good manners exercises, as well as a variety of fun tricks that will strengthen your relationship and provide them with much needed mental stimulation.
A trained puppy is a joy to live with.
Why Are Puppy Classes Important
Much like young children, puppies learn like sponges and habits formed early on will shape their adult behaviour.
Early social development is also critical and exposing your puppy to many different experiences, people and other dogs in a safe and positive way will give them the best chance of growing into confident and well-adjusted adult dogs.
Our classes go beyond normal ‘obedience school’ thinking and are structured to provide your puppy with a variety of positive early experiences.
You will also receive knowledge and tips to handle every aspect of raising your pup into a healthy member of the family with good habits and coping skills.
